Raleigh, NC – Gregory Poole Lift Systems has been awarded the prestigious MVP (Most Valuable Partner) Award for 2016! The MVP Award is granted by the industry’s trade association, MHEDA (Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association). To be among the less than 5 percent of the association’s membership earning the award, Gregory Poole successfully demonstrated a commitment to business excellence, professionalism and good stewardship.
“MHEDA members represent the best of our industry; companies that take the initiative and make the investments to be not just good, but great at what they do,” said 2015 MHEDA President Mark Milovich of Lift Atlanta, Inc. “Recognition as a MHEDA MVP further demonstrates the member’s desire to shine above the brightest stars in all areas of running their business both internally and externally. MHEDA MVPs are simply the ‘Best of the Best’!”
This is the fifth consecutive year that Gregory Poole has been awarded MVP status. To qualify, the company was required to provide evidence of their commitment to their partners in business including their customers, employees and suppliers. They must satisfy criteria in the following important areas:
Gregory Poole Lift Systems has been in business since 1951 and now has 16 full-service facilities across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. In addition, this year they completed the acquisition of three other material handling companies: Dougherty Equipment Company, VBS Inc. Material Handling Equipment, and certain assets of Briggs Equipment, Inc. This gives Gregory Poole Lift Systems over 100 years of combined experience and even more resources and expertise to better serve the customer.
“Since our founding in 1951, we have built our organization on the core values of integrity and excellence in all that we do,” said Hal Ingram, Group Vice President, Lift Systems, Gregory Poole Equipment Company. “We have pulled from the best of several well-respected and high-performing organizations to create a top-notch team, and we can now provide customers with more reduced costs and lower total cost of ownership than ever before, along with a full range of Hyster® and Yale® forklift trucks from Class I to Class V.”
Gregory Poole Lift Systems offers a complete line of material handling equipment (new/used/rental) and products including lift truck classes from pallet jacks to high-capacity fork trucks, burden carriers, aerial equipment, racking, shelving, and a host of complementary warehouse products. They stock a comprehensive parts inventory and service all makes and models from 16 conveniently located facilities. Gregory Poole represents the following product lines; Yale, Hyster, TICO, Taylor-Dunn, Genie, JLG and CombiLift. For more information, browse our website.
Bob Sattler, VP of Dealer Business Development for NACCO Materials Handling Group, recommended Gregory Poole Lift Systems for the award. In his letter of nomination he stated, “Gregory Poole is an organization in which the leadership team is engaged with its employees to operate in a high performance culture and the reason for years we have pursued a conversion. It is a culture that not only attracts, but helps retain talented professionals to better serve not only the customer, but the communities in which they operate. Employees clearly understand the values under which the operation is accountable, and how they are expected to deliver quality goods and services to the marketplace.”
The Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association (MHEDA) is the only national trade association dedicated solely to improving the proficiency of the independent material handling distributor. MHEDA represents close to 650 companies in the material handling equipment business. Located in suburban Chicago, the association provides services to companies seeking to improve their business through education, networking, benchmarking and best practices. Every material handling operation has its own specific needs, which is why we love the diverse lineup of Hyster and Yale equipment. Which machine is right for your operation?
Ground Level Transport
For transporting pallets around your warehouse, both Hyster and Yale offer motorized pallet trucks able to handle loads of 4,000-8,000 lbs and tow tractors with load capacities of 10,000-15,000 lbs.
Both Hyster and Yale also offer an Enclosed End Rider Truck for heavier loads, ergonomically designed with operator comfort in mind and able to handle loads of up to 10,000 lbs.
Indoor Lifting and Stacking
Both Hyster and Yale make excellent 3- and 4-wheel electric forklifts that are perfect for indoor (and outdoor) operations. For tight spaces with two to three levels of stacking, Yale’s Electric Straddle Stackers are the ideal choice. The adjustable outriggers provide a stable base and they’re capable of handling pallets of up to 4,000 lbs. Yale also manufactures Narrow Aisle Reach Trucks that allow for greater height reach with impressive maneuverability in tight spaces.
For loads up to 36,000 lbs, you’ll find the right lift truck from either Hyster or Yale to do the job. However, your heaviest loads are a job for Hyster’s high capacity lift trucks.
You can’t beat Hyster’s high capacity forklifts and container handlers for high-volume shipping yards. The RS45 and RS46 series Container ReachStackers offer the best maneuverability in the industry, with a short turning radius and a high-strength boom that can stack 9'6" or 8'6" containers 5-high in the first row.

You may have noticed some changes going on with Gregory Poole Equipment Company over the last few months. On October 17, we acquired Dougherty Equipment Company, VBS Inc. Material Handling Equipment and the NC and SC locations of Briggs Equipment. This expanded our company’s footprint to 15 locations in 13 cities throughout Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
We’ve increased our family along with our territory. Many fantastic associates from Dougherty, VBS, and Briggs have joined the Gregory Poole Lift Systems team, allowing us to incorporate the best people and best practices from four different companies. This is making us stronger and even more capable of meeting our customers needs and we’re thrilled to welcome them to the team.
Along with expanding our territory, this acquisition has allowed us to become an official dealer of the Hyster and Yale brands across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. We’re especially excited because Hyster-Yale Materials Handling Inc. is headquartered in Greenville, North Carolina with plants in Greenville and Berea, Kentucky. Our geographic proximity is a boon to our customers, as we’ll be able to offer even faster equipment and parts delivery and faster resolutions to any issues that may arise with their equipment.
We recognize that change can be difficult, but it’s also an exciting part of growing our business. For over fifty years, Gregory Poole has been committed to our customers, and we’re renewing that commitment through this merger. We will make this change as seamless as possible and provide all our customers with improved customer service and reduced response times – we are your operations partner.
We want to thank all of our customers for their loyalty over the years and we encourage everyone to come to us with questions they may have.
